b. Ginseng

Beyond its culinary use, turmeric has been used for centuries in traditional medicine due to its potential health benefits. Galangal, known as 'lengkuas' in Indonesian, is a type of plant that belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, similar to the ginger family. Galangal is native to Southeast Asia and has been used in cooking and traditional medicine in various countries in the region.

e. ginger

Ginger is a rhizomatous plant closely related to galangal and turmeric. Ginger has a root similar to a rhizome and has a spicy, warm, and slightly sweet taste. The ginger plant is native to South and Southeast Asia but has spread worldwide due to its popularity in both culinary and traditional medicine.

Ginger is often used in various cuisines, including Asian, Indian, and Caribbean dishes. Fresh ginger rhizomes can be sliced or minced and used in various dishes, such as soups, curries, seafood, beverages, and desserts. Ginger is also commonly used in herbal beverages, such as ginger tea, for its potential health benefits.

In traditional medicine, ginger is known to have properties that may help alleviate digestive issues, nausea, and inflammation. Ginger extracts are also used in various health supplements.
